Sounds like acceptance is more competitive than ever

I have no idea what the actual numbers are, but the rumor mill among parents is that Elon is becoming more difficult to get into with each passing year. A friend called from the Philly area called and said out of her son's prep school where students are sent to "top" schools routinely---all 8 that applied to Elon were either deferred or rejected. Two students I know locally (NC) were deferred (or is it waitlisted?) and they were strong students---though I don't know their actual numbers.

Good luck to everyone.

I'd agree with that. Check out the fact book http://www.elon.edu/e-web/administration/institutional_research/FactBookAdm06.pdf
particularly pages 1 and 9. Applications are up significantly while acceptances are generally steady. So they are also steadily increasing their selectivity. I'm pretty sure my son would have been deferred if he hadn't applied ED, and ultimately I would have given his chances about 50-50.

Iderochi, I'm pretty sure that my son who entered in 2000 probably wouldn't get in today! ;) I know he is proud to tell people that he is an Elon alum though.

Elon is a really fine school. At the fall orientation weekend President Lambert made a friendly request to the parents to let their children decide if Elon is right for them. I think Elon is coming out from being under the UNC safety cloud. I think if someone wants to get into Elon they may need to want to go there. My D and some others in NC are choosing Elon over UNC which probably wouldn't have happened so often in the past. Elon's engaging education is noteworthy but probably not so much so for future students who don't have that as a high priority. I think Elon is going somewhere good.

Wow guys, that ruins my weekend...I don't know how I'm going to make it two more months! AAHHHH! LOL.
Does anyone have stats for people admitted EA?

CAgirl, I've seen you're stats. I think you're still good. Did you apply for any of the Fellows? I think you have a very good chance of being invited -- which means that you'll get your notice of admission in advance.

I certainly didn't mean to increase anyone's anxiety. Sorry CAgirl! We were just so impressed with our son's four years there that I'm glad other students are seeing what Elon has to offer. CAgirl--keep us posted!!

CAgirl, I've checked your stats and think your chances at Elon are excellent. My D got in EA with 600 CR, 540 W, 750 M and a 4.0(w) GPA. Fortunately for her, I don't think they consider the writing section as closely as CR and M. She was also invited to apply for the Honors program which I would think you may be as well. That would mean you may here from Elon sooner than you think. Good luck.

I was told by an admissions counselor that the average scores for EA to Elon this year were 1280 with avg. GPA of 4.2 and she expects the regular applicant pool to be the same. So, if you are familiar with the previous years' statistics, there you go. Yes, I guess Elon has been discovered.
