I’m a junior in Maryland. My gpa is a 3.5 unweighted and a 4.0 weighted, my sat score is a 1850, I’m in some clubs and honor societies, i have lots of leadership activities, and I have multiple survice hours. I am looking at colleges and having difficulty knowing which schools I’d get into and which schools are a good fit for me! I want a school in the south, not ridiclously expensive, has Greek life, football would be ideal but not necessary, and I prefer a town located in a nice college town or city. Somewhere where stuff happens not in the middle of no where. Currently I’m interested in schools such as usc, Clemson, charleston, fsu, auburn, uf, Tennessee, Virginia tech, ut austin and tcu! Please tell me your opinions or any advice thanks!!
What’s your SAT CR+Math? If it’s above 1400 you qualify for the University of Alabama Presidential Scholarship, which provides full OOS tuition for four years. See the UA scholarships for OOS. http://scholarships.ua.edu/types/out-of-state.html
If you have your heart set on one of those schools, the best advice is to get your SAT up. if you can qualify for the scholarships like NoVADad suggested then it would be worth it.
If not, I would strongly recommend a school not on that list- the University of Maryland. none of the schools on your list are better schools or have a dramatically different student life than UMD does but they would likely all be much more expensive. You would get the same big school experience and a school with a wider alumni network in your home state at a much better cost.
And this is coming from someone who is the opposite of a Terps fan
Have you asked your parents how much they’ll pay each year? if not, do so. You need to know that info.
Around 30-35,000
