HI - I was wondering if someone could give me a little overview of the Spanish classes at UVA. I somehow got placed into 201 after the placement test, but I'm a little nervous b/c I am soo bad at spanish! haha.

From the description in the COD, 201 seems like it covers stuff I learned in high school, but I hope I'm not in over my head!!

Everyone I know that took Spanish or French (and took 3-4 years in high school) got placed a bit ahead than they thought they should be, and they all did fine in the end. I know a ton that went into 201 classes, and they said they review high school stuff like some of the harder verbs, tenses, ect, and focused a lot on developing an everyday-base, meaning more common vocab that's a bit more than "dog, cat, house, flower, guitar" but not stuff you'll never use. They apparently also focus on correct grammar and sentence structure, as well as improving your overall conversing skills (speaking and writing). It all just builds, so as long as you keep up with the class and do a little practice on your own, you should be fine.

ok that makes me feel much better!! thanks!
