Hi, i'm an incoming freshman for Bucknell University and I will be majoring in biomedical engineering. I was wondering if it was possible to have a Spanish minor along with a BME major. Will minoring in Spanish be too hard since I'm already an engineering major? I'm worried that minoring in a foreign language would require too much time and affect my studies. Do you guys know any engineers with foreign language minors? is it doable?

I personally do not know of any engineers who have a foreign language minor, but it is possible to minor in some discipline outside of engineering. I believe all engineering majors have humanities/social science requirements, and I think a Spanish course would qualify as a humanities/social science course (I’m not completely certain…)

From the Course Catalog: "The minor in Spanish consists of five courses beyond SPAN 103 Toward Intermediate Spanish. At least two of the courses for the minor must deal with literature or civilization and at least three of the courses counted for the minor must be taken at Bucknell. Students who go on the Bucknell en Espa

You likely have to take elective classes anyways. Minor in whatever interests you.

Plenty of engineering majors do Spanish minors (I’m one of them). It shouldnt be that big of a burden unless you really dont want to do it
