Spanish or an AP?

Hey guys! I just had a question pertaining to scheduling for senior year. I am a rising junior at present but I'm trying to decide on which classes I want to take for senior year. My school recently got rid of all the foreign language APs because of funding/low grades. This really sucks since I was planning to skip over Spanish 4 and take Spanish 5 as a junior which is a pre-req for the AP class. But now the district took that option away and the only option for me is to take Spanish 4 junior year. For senior year the only Spanish courses available are a regular Spanish 5 course, or an "accelerated" course which can get you credit at a local community college.

This is where the problem occurs. I heard a lot about how colleges like to see students take foreign language classes throughout their high school career. I've been taking Spanish every year since 7th grade. But I'm not sure if I should continue Spanish for senior year or take an extra AP class instead. Which is more impressive? To be honest, I am also slightly worried that if I take either of the unweighted Spanish courses available for senior year my class rank might drop if others take more APs.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions :)

What AP are you planning on picking up? If it’s not related to what you plan on doing in college, stick with the Spanish. Colleges really like to see that dedication to the foreign language.

take whichever you want.
if it happens to look good for college, then that’s just a bonus.
don’t let your life revolve around what looks good to other people.

thanks guys for the replies.
Bumping for more opinions!

If you’re interested in the Spanish language take the class. Otherwise don’t, pretty simple I think :p

There’s nothing wrong with refining a language. Stick with Spanish.
