Spanish Placement Test

I received my acceptance and was told i must complete spanish 101-202. called admissions and they said i could take a placement test at transfer orientation

anybody have any idea what is on this placement test and what i need to know/study in order to place out of some (hopefully all) of the spanish classes?'

thanks

101-202 is a series that must be completed for your foreign language requirement. Basically you just have to take the placement test and see where it sticks you, and then complete the series up to 202. So if you placed into 201, for example, you would only have to take 201 and 202.

you shouldn't study for it. that's the point of the test, to see your general knowledge and level. if you study for it really hard, then you may place into a level of spanish that will be too difficult.

as for the test itself, it's really not bad. it's an online test, about 30 questions (i think). And it will either place you in 105/106, 201 or 202, or say you can go to a higher level. The 105/106 series is like intensive review for people that have already taken Spanish but couldn't place into 201. the rest are the normal series.

You can also take the SAT II SPANISH Test and Place out of classes or even complete your language requirement!

Here is the break down for SAT II SPANISH
410-Below Spanish 101
420-510 Spanish 102
520-590 Spanish 201
600-640 Spanish 202
650-above Language requirement is fulfilled

Good thing i won't have to take Spanish at UVA, since i scored high enough. lol

its not possible to do really well on the placement test and totally place out of all language requirements?

it might be. . . i had friends that did the placement test and placed into 311 or 331, (whichever is intensive grammar, i always forget) -- i don't know if they were required to take the class they placed into, that wouldn't make much sense, so i guess they placed out but i'm not 100% certain
