To all of you who have ever taken it, what is it like? I'm very unsure as to whether or not I got a 4 on the AP test so I'd like to hear what topics the umich placement test stress. What specifically should I study for? I heard there is a big listening section and you obviously can't study for that, so what specific areas do they stress? Tenses, conjugation, logical conclusions like SAT verbal, or what?

Alright guys thanks for the help, haha. For all of you who were wondering about it, it's really not hard at all. It's a joke compared to AP. I got a 3 on AP and passed out of all 4 semesters without much trouble. That might be because the listening is very ADD-friendly cuz they give u like 2 sentences to listen to before you answer, not a freaking 5 minute narrative. so enjoy it guys!

WHAT!!!!!!

The frickin' french placement test gave you these long soap stories, in uber-fast french. I KNEW I shoulda taken spanish in hs. grrrrr.

chibears- was there a verbal conversation part, or was it just a written with listening parts? thanks.

..i obviously meant soap operas....but still..you get the general idea

There was no written element to the test. It was basically 40 listening questions where they would give you a tiny short peace (sometimes a dialogue) and you either had to match it up with a picture or statement (mult chioce). Later on there is a 56-question grammar and reading comprehension part that is also multiple choice.

Thanks alot man. See ya in August!

there were soap operas? you mean the conversations in the beginning? i kind of liked them. they were way easier to understand than the rapidfire italian conversations about going to il teatro. i think that was the only part i understood.

What 4 semesters (course names) of Spanish did you place out of chibearsfan17? So what course will you be starting with in the fall?
