spanish satII w/ vs w/o listening - please, enlighten me

Well, I've been thinking of taking spanish subject test this fall but I can't make up my mind which one to choose. As I'm not very familiar with satIIs, I really need some explanations.
First of all...In what way is the test with listening better (more useful) than the one without? In other words...Why should I do more, if it is possible to get away with less?

I also have a question about Barron's book. I've taken some practice tests and they seem...well, quite easy...especially the listening part. Could somebody tell me how realistic they actually are?

Although I'm more or less confident about my skills, it still makes me worry as my spanish studies have been really chaotic (there's no such subject at my school, lol). I'm kinda afraid of potential nasty surprises and the harsh curve (as I've heard).

Please, don't mind my English (It's not my native language).

how do you have listening in teh barrons prep book? does it come with a tape or something?

Yes, Barron's comes with a CD of tests

some schools say that spanish w/ listening gives them a better sense of where you are with the language. i just took spanish on saturday, and i'm debating taking listening also.

in my opinion, w/ listening is easier, but i don't know how your listening comp. skills are so you should probably pick up a barron's guide with the cd and give it a try.
