Spanish vs Science

When colleges (mainly UCs, CSUs, and UW) look at your schedule, would they rather see commitment or interest?

I’m planning on only taking 3 years of Spanish, so that means dropping AP Spanish and taking an extra AP science class senior year. I keep going back in forth with my decision because everyone always says this:

“Taking 4 years of a language looks best!!! Only taking 3 is bad because it’s the minimum!” or
“Take the classes you like so they see what you’re interested in!!”

I don’t know if this will change anything but I’m planning on Nursing and I’m taking ASL at a community college.

I’m really stuck on this decision! Thanks in advance to everyone.

Take another science. If you are taking ASL and have three (school) years of Spanish, you will be fine. Do what you enjoy!

I am a nursing major too! I’m going to school this fall  I would WITHOUT A DOUBT take the science class. I took two sciences my senior year, and I don’t regret it. Languages are not as important in the college admission process as you would think (at least for a nursing major like you). My language classes were all over the place. I took German 2 as a freshman (then dropped it because I moved schools, and my new school didn’t have german), Latin 1 (then dropped it because I hated the class), then Spanish 1 junior year, then Spanish 2 senior year. My language record, as you can see, was all over the place! I took my science classes really seriously, though. I took AP Bio and Physics and I am so glad I did! Honestly, take the science class. They care way more about sciences than languages

Colleges judge your interests based on your extracurriculars and essays, more so than course selections.

Thanks everyone! Won’t change my mind now.

@Fawnleaf Oh my gosh, that sounds so hectic. Thanks so much for your reply, it really made me feel so much better. Congrats on getting into nursing and I hope you have a good time in the fall xx Do you have any tips for AP Bio and Physics?
