Sparknotes 1000 SAT wordlist.........

Does that work for you?

You do not, DO NOT, need to study vocabulary words for this new sat. It is quite unnecessary.

However, I guess one might have a limited vocabulary, in which case that would be useful. I just think that for most people who read at a 12th grade level, studying vocab is a blatant waste of time.

Barron's 3,500 word list for me :)

echoing filmxoxo17, it's a waste of time. The point or two you MIGHT be able to get studying a few thousand words is not worth the time that goes into it. That one point or two can just as easily be lost or gained through pure luck.

If you have the time to consider it, pick up a few extra ECs to pad your resume; I can guarantee they'll do you a heck of a lot more good than memorizing useless vocab.

yep!! unless u've a seriously limited vocab, it's not much use going through the trouble! especially for the new SATs. just learn the techniques. like soumanyon said, even if you learn everything, it'll hardly get you a few raw points. spend tht time more wisely!

I am an immgrant, have been here for 2 years, my vocabulary is very limited, I think I have to study wordlist. Just wondering if the Sparknotes wordlist work for the NEW sat, or any other wordlist work for it

well, that all depends on where you immigrated from and how much english you've taken.

One of my friends came over from Japan a few years ago after taking a decade of english and still had a ton of trouble but another friend from Switzerland intergrated quite well (but that might also be due to the fact that she was biligual German/French so you've got the grammar and vocab of english right there).

In my opinion, vocab is always a crapshoot. You could memorize a 5000 word list and the two vocabs on the test are number 5001 and 5002.

if you are immigrant, work on the writing and reading comprehension portion. it is MUCH more useful and having a weak writing score is not good, so practice the writing problems. I mean they can only test the grammertical mistakes so many times.

memorizing vocab is rather useless. instead, spend some time and read some books and do barron's reading comprehension and look up words that you don't know.

Thank you for your advices!
Memorizing wordlist really takes a lot of time
