So I've only taken the SAT once with no prep and got 1830 (CR:620, M:600, W:610); my ideal goal is a 2100and so I'll obviosly need to do alot of studying. I've bee searching through the threads to see which book(s) you guys recommend but am still a little confused . Aside from the official CB book what is/are one or two books you would recommend to help me study/improve my score by how much is needed?

By the way, is sparknotes any good - i've heard conflicting stories?

I have the book “10 Practice Tests for the New SAT,” if that’s the one you’re referring to. It has lots of practice and generally good explanations, but the thing is full of errors (so far, anyway). I had only completed up to the 4th practice test before I had to take the SAT, but I had already spotted several errors. However, the explanations (for the math, at least) that are there are pretty good, and I guess it wouldn’t hurt to get it… I don’t recall it being all that expensive, either…

I used it and got a 2100 ( although I messed up on the writing ). The main advantage is that it’s actually interesting to read. It’s definitely not boring. I’d recommend looking at a larger list of vocab if you feel that you are not a reader.
