This might sound dumb but I’m a first year at UCLA who wants to appeal to UCSB for winter quarter 2016 but I was accepted there and simply declined the offer (more specifically my parents forced me to go to UCLA when I wanted to go to SB). Is that even possible, appealing when you weren’t rejected? I hate it here and I really want to switch to UCSB but not wait till I’m a junior because honestly I can’t stand another two years here. Please somebody help me I’m desperate.
UCSB does not accept Winter transfers. I highly doubt they will accept you since you declined their admission. I suggest you call admissions since no one on CC can tell you the answer. If you hate UCLA, consider attending SBCC and then transferring after you have your 90 quarter units, tough it out at UCLA or withdraw from UCLA and take a GAP year and reapply as a Freshman.
Out of curiosity … What is it that you hate so much in there?
Gumbymom is right. You need specific and accurate guidance which can only come from UCSB admissions.Consider the SBCC option though not sure you would want to ultimately go to 3 schools to get a bachelors.
Yeah thanks guys I’ll definitely call SB admissions tomorrow. What I don’t like about UCLA is, well, a lot of things. First, I hate big cities, or at least living right in the center of one. There aren’t any ‘nature-y’ places here like the trails and mountains in San Diego (my hometown). At least not close by.Second, it’s my dream to run cross country and track in college but unfortunately I’m no where near good enough to run at a top level D1 school like UCLA, whereas UCSB is at my level. Third, just the atmosphere here, how everyone is so uptight about academics and everything…not to say that I’m a slacker but I don’t get along with those kind of people. Generally.
You should explore how your running and event times compare w the UCSB team. Maybe the coach would be interested in helping support a transfer.
I’m currently a freshman at UCSB and used to run XC and Track in high school. Just so you know the team is pretty good here. I think last years recruiting class had a 1:50 800 guy, a 4:10 miler, and a 9:00 2 miler. I don’t think you could walk on without at least a 1:56/4:20/9:30. Not trying to discourage you or anything, I just don’t you to make a misinformed decision.
I would say I could get those times by next fall. It’s just that at UCLA there’s this guy who runs a sub 15:00 5k right now but still can’t walk on. At least at UCSB I have a tangible chance lol.
