What schools in the mid-atlantic region (PA, NJ, NY) offer the major of speech pathology?

Go to this site - the American Speech and Hearing Association - click on students - they have a list of undergraduate programs available, as well as information about careers in the field:

nyc292 - I am a Mom on this list but I am also an audiologist with a bachelor's in communication disorders (speech and hearing), master's in audiology. I work closely with l7 speech paths and managed a speech program for years. To practice in SLP you will need a minimum of a Master's degree, a 9 month internship and you will have to pass boards. You will have a leg up for grad school if you take an undergrad in speech/comm disorders at a well regarded undergrad program. I am not that familiar with the schools in the areas you mention but there are big differences in schools so it is worth checking out the departments. A program that offers a variety of opportunities - peds, adults, medical placements, educational placements, with a bigger faculty, a faculty that does a lot of research, will be better recognized for grad school Often the big programs in speech and audiology are NOT the typical LACs or Ivies. Consider contacting your local state organization for speech and audiology. You can find SLPs in most hospitals and school systems. What comes to mind quickly is Bloomsburg in PA and SUNY (Buffalo) in NY, Hofstra in NY. In Boston, we have Emerson College, Northeastern, UMass Amherst and Mass GEneral Hospital's program. Good luck with your search. There are a lot of opportunities in Speech!

For what it's worth I think it is a great field...we have an A+ speech path at the hospital who is an immense help with swallowing disorders, etc.
