Spell with your fingers!!! (math related)

<p>I remember during spelling bee's teachers would tell me to spell with my fingers if I didn't remember the words.</p>

<p>I count with my fingers.</p>

<p>24+13. Sheee....*</p>

<p>I know it is 34... let me use my finger for the +3.... 35, 36, 37</p>

<p>The answer is 37!!!</p>

<p>Does that make me dumb? Is counting with fingers that bad? Is it worse than nationalist that spell with fingers... I say this because I have heard nothing but stigma about counting with fingers since elementary school..</p>

I am finishing my engineering degree soon. Don't think I don't know math...</p>

<p>Nearly all computational math methods started from body counting. Base 10? Digit(al) computing? Rule of Thumb? 5 feet long? At arm’s length? (Cubit(al)). Whatever works.</p>
