Spend a night at Fordham

I just received a letter from the admissions office today asking me to spend a night at Fordham. You stay with a student and then go to classes with them the next day. I know that this is a typical offer but I believe they are now offering this specific night for students that have been accepted EA. Has anyone else received this letter? Am I right about it being for EA kids? Is anyone else thinking of going?

yeah, i've received that letter too (actually, it was an email). i might go if i end up going on an "east coast" college trip where i would visit boston college, fordham, and maybe wellesley.. but i'm not sure yet. were there different dates that you could attend for the fordham one??

There was only one date. They said there is some sort of reception and then you spend a night with a student in their dorm. The date is in the beginning of February I think the 8th into the 9th.

My son applied RD and I did not see this letter.

I applied EA and got deferred and I didn't get anything about spending a night. I think this is a really cool opporunity though. I would look into it if I were you guys.

My daughter was accepted EA to Fordham and received the letter. I think the overnight is for 2/8.

xtx- is your daughter going to attend?

No. We're in California and she's in the middle of a bunch of dance performance rehearsals, so, sadly, we'll miss it.

Ahh... i see where i messed up. I received a "Save the Date" email for both the "fordham for a night" and "fordham for a day" event. That kind of sucks 'cus I was hoping to attend the Feb. 17 "Fordham for a Day" event (they also have one on the 16th), but I thought that it was going to be an overnight thing. Haha, I guess I should have read the email more thoroughly.

Thats odd.. i was accepted EA and never got this in my email or regular mail.

hey, i got this email from fordham about them willing to repay up to $150 for my trip to the "Fordham for a Night." does anybody know if they would also offer this discount for their "fordham for a day" program on Feb. 16/17???

I got my confirmation for the program a few days ago....is anyone else definitely going?

Has anyone spent the night at Rose Hill? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I am a sailing recruit at Fordham, so last weekend I spent a night at Rose Hill with a kid on the sailing team. The campus is beautiful for the most part; many gorgeous stone buildings. I will be brutally honest...the food is terrible. But it could be worse. The dorm situation tailors to any type of person. I stayed in South which is for the type of kid who is very outgoing. Many drunk students were stumbling through the halls at god-awful hours of the night, even though most of the students had midterms the next day. However, there are many other dorms on campus with a completely different atmosphere. Once you are accepted, you can request the dorm of your desire. Since the campus is gated, there is a very close knit atmosphere. My host said hi to a lot of students when he was showing me around campus. Faculty members were very accesible. When I first arrived on campus, the sailing coach had already set up an appointment for me with the president of the school. After my meeting I met my host who knew the president very well, further convincing me of the close knit atmosphere. It is also very easy to get to manhatten. There is a train right outside campus that takes you directly to grand central station. Its only a 25 minute ride.

The campus was very nice, although I did not feel a connection with the students.

Thanks for your thoughts cupofjoe! How did you find the students? I see from a previous post that you are from upstate. Did it feel like just too much culture shock? Son visited Fordham, but during the summer...Thanks again.
