I am potential Running Recruit for the 2016 Class, and im wondering if there is a decent amount of money for athletes to receive at least something? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you’re a woman, yes. If you’re a man, maybe, but only if you’re good.

If you are recruited by UCLA, you will be given a full scholarship that covers tuition along with room and board. You will also be given university benefits, such as receiving priority enrollment and a supply of UCLA apparel.

However, in accordance to NCAA bylaws, you cannot receive other gifts or monetary supplements in addition to what you are given. These things range from free dinners to even a free car ride. If you do, it’ll be considered a violation of the NCAA and you can be released from the team and even cause your school to face sanctions.

So in short, you won’t receive additional money like a professional athlete would. You would only receive a scholarship that covers tuition, room and board, and various other university related necessities.

Or rather, if you’re offered a full scholarship by UCLA the above will hold. Unfortunately, scholarship space is very limited, so unless you’re very good you’re unlikely to get a full scholarship.

Your best bet is to contact the coaches. And read this site: [UCLA BRUINS - Recruiting](http://www.uclabruins.com/recruiting/)

yeah ive been in communication with the coach. ucla is my top choice among others, as ive been going back and forth with other schools.

Also would being from New Jersey be a factor? like would that help my chances maybe?

Also, what about some of the perks being a ucla athlete? like dorms, classes, etc?
ive been also seriously talking to uPenn for running, although its always been my dream to go to ucla
