Sports at Stanford

How popular are intercollegiate sports at Stanford? I know they have tons of great teams there, but do many students care about the sports? Do they pack the stadiums and the gymnasium for the home games?

They do. They are very enthusiastic about sports. From "google-ing", I saw many pictures delineating the students' zeal.

Yup! Lots of students will take a break from homework, during the week or on a weekend, to go see a sport, whether it's gymnastics, volleyball, synchronized swimming, or basketball. It helps that many of our athletics programs are excellent.

The exception is football... students do definitely go to games, but the stadium does not fill up. Then again, a stadium is significantly bigger than a gymnasium.

Maybe once our football team can be expected to be less than completely humiliated on any given day, more people will come.

Basketball is extremely popular--both men's and women's. Volleyball has a pretty significant following, too, especially among the Band. I don't know about other sports, as the ones the Band plays at are usually the only ones I go to.

does stanford have badminton court?

We must, as there's a badminton team.

There are badminton courts in the Ford Center. They might be multipurpose courts, I'm not sure, but I am positive you can play badminton there.

nice!! do you have to pay an extra fee to become a gym member or is it included in the tuition?

It's included in the tuition

I plan to make ample use of the athletic facilities as a student. I am as far from an athlete as you'll find, so I'd like to build myself up a bit. Stanford'll help me out a bunch with that. ^_^
