Anyone know if the football and basketball games at Syracuse are well attended? It's super important to my daughter...she wants a school with TONS of student school spirit. Anyone have any info? We can't afford to go for a visit and watch a bball game for ourselves...

Basketball is huge at Syracuse, they have a great team and everyone goes out to see the games even if they don’t like sports.

Football, not so much…but basketball is like Syracuse’s pride; although the whole Bernie Fine scandal certainly put a damper on things haha

First, the Bernie Fine scandal didn’t put a damper on anything.

Second, the sports at Syracuse are an amazing experience and tradition.

The Carrier Dome (a cool structure in itself) is the largest on campus stadium in the nation. It holds just under 50,000 people. Football games will usually draw an average of around 35,000 and a good game, like West Virginia last year will draw around 45,000. The student section for football is smaller than basketball, but there’s plenty of spirit.

Basketball capacity is smaller, biggest crowd was 34,616. Average game is around 30,000. We get the biggest on-campus crowds in the nation nearly every year. The atmosphere in the Carrier Dome for a great game is amazing. The Syracuse community, not just the university, is passionate about basketball, and you’ll notice.

Additionally, if you are a LAX fan, we have 11 national titles and are a super power. Not quite as big of crowds for that though.

Hope she picks SU, but regardless of where she ends up: good luck!

How do you apply to Syracuse without knowing about their incredible basketball program?

I’m just saying.
