I know for USC sports management majors you have to do 2 internships. Just found out you cant take any classes during your internships. I am assuming that means you have to do your internship during the summer. Since I am OOS that is an big added expense. Also is the second internship is done after your senior year? Any input or advice about sports management internships. How have you fitted these internships into your schedule?

thanks

yankees 3311 We visited Umass this past summer it is a beautiful campus and the Eisenberg School of Business is one of the best also loved USC My D is still waiiting on USC but i would give UMASS a look .very nice small town but closer to Boston and NYC than you think of course it is in the NE and winters can be tricky

Yankees…
I dont know if we discussed this before…S is a USC grad in sports Management. He did 3 internships even though two are required. First one (required) was with the L.I.Ducks Minor League BB team here on Long Island (he had worked with them for two yers prior to this) he did everything from ticket selling to tarp pulling to mascot performances. He loved it.His unrequired one was with the Houston texans during training camp, doing promotions and special events for the public. That was 6 weeks. Last, after classes were finished in senior year was with UFC in Las Vegas, doing events, promos, website stuff, news releases, even picked up fighters from the airport type stuff. This one went overtime into the early fall .You do not graduate until the penultimate internship is over and yes it is an added expense as you have to register for those credits. we do know an OOS girl who finished her internship during the spring of her senior year by working at Brice Stadium…no added expense, no extra time.
Just so you know, S was accepted at UMass,UMiami ,Michigan,UFlorida in addition to USC all in Sports Management. We do know someone who went to Indiana for the same degree.Son is now at UMAss for a dual Masters degree (2 years F/T) in sports Management and an MBA its the Isenberg School of Management, not Eisenberg. He is full funded with an Assistanceship ,working at their on site Arena(Mullins). He did work in Marketing for two years before returning to school this past Fall.

cathymee…thanks for the valuable information.

you are welcome.please let me know if you have any other questions.

Cathymee,
When did your son do his first required internship? Is it too late if you wait until the summer after sophomore year?

Summer after soph year is when ASon did his first required internship, thats the normal timeframe.Summer after freshman year he went on a travel class/trip with the Sport Mansgement dept visiting different major and minor league ballparks up and down the East Coast.
