I am interested in the Sports Management program at the University of South Carolina. Could anyone tell me a little bit about it? One of my biggest questions relates to their internship opportunities. I know that because they are a big school, you really have to make an effort on your own part to get help to find internships, but do they have a good system / good connections to actually help you find these? Also, because USC is in Columbia, what types of internships do students usually do? What I am most interested in is the NFL so I would guess that my best options are the Panthers or Falcons. Also, do students have the opportunity to work / intern with USC's sports program? Can they get any experience by working for the football team or basketball team (or even baseball team). I know that one of the biggest things in this industry is connections and who you know - which you can usually begin to create with internships. Anyone have any information?

S is a recent grad of this program. Look for a PM (private message) response from me shortly.
Short answer…yes you can get good internships. Yes you will have to work VERY hard to land them .Yes the dept has connections but those only go so far…LOTS of competition for internships let alone jobs after graduation.
