So basically since freshman year I have been in a sport every season. I guess that's good, but the downside is that because of this I was not able to do any in-school extracurriculars, except med club, which is once a week in the morning. I look at these threads and people have all these extracurriculars in which they participate in their school. I am not able to do such things because of my sports. I don't want to quit the sports because for one, I really and enjoy them, and two, it would show a lack of commitment. Would adcoms understand that I am not able to do these in-school extracurriculars?

I say 'in school' because sports only limit the things you can do in school. I do a vast amount of things out of school that colleges really would like. This includes being in a bowling league, publishing books, and tutoring.

Thank you for any help :)

Bump: An action used to move a thread to the top of the list.

Adcoms don’t expect you or anyone else to be Superman. There are only so many hours in a day, in a week. So participating in a sport will obviously affect what else you can do.

Unfortunately, though, you seem to harbor a misconception that adcoms at top schools are looking for commitment. They are not. They are looking for achievement and leadership. You could just as easily show “commitment” by copying the names out of the phonebook 10 hours each week as by taking part in sports, and I hope you don’t think the former is a valued activity.

Most colleges don’t take ECs into account in any more than a nominal way, if that. But for those for which ECs matter, just racking up hours is not what they want. The question about impressive ECs comes up regularly on the forum. If you are thinking of the most selective colleges there is a thread with several posts by Northstarmom, a Ivy alum interviewer, about what constitutes impressive ECs from the point of view of the most selective colleges.
