<p>If you choose one or the other just for the purpose of getting into college, you’re making a deal with the devil.</p>
<p>Are you good at sports? Do you enjoy playing? If so, then play sports. If not, then volunteer. Or be in the spring musical. Or debate.</p>
<p>Do something, and do it somehow a little better year by year. If you do Model UN, participate in a delegation this year, and chair one next year. If you like wilderness adventure stuff, go on a summer program one summer, and then be a group leader another summer. </p>
<p>It doesn’t matter all that much what you do. It matters whether you take something away from doing it that helps you grow as a person.</p>
