log onto OASIS and click on the permit to register (it'll have the time and also say if you have restrictions such as advisement)

spring sem starts Jan 9 (how can some schools, like on the east coast, have month long winter breaks and still be on a semester system?)

Yeah, but then they finish later than us. I know that the Virginia schools are all out in late late May, while we get out May 4 or something?

are any of you spring admits? I am, and this waiting game blows

Mentos, I am a spring admit. The waiting does suck, but the money I am saving and the GPA that I am inflating for myself makes it worth it.

I'm a spring admit also. Dont we register for classes at the orientation on 12/5-6?

EDIT: uhh...I looked on OASIS and it said that my registration appointment is at 9AM on 11/22. So that's when I'm supposed to register for my classes? Not during the orientation (because that's what it said on the orientation website)?

We are supposed to register when we are at orientation. I know that is the only time I can even be at USC because I am so busy.

Master,

Where on OASIS does it tell you that your appointment is on 11/22 at 9AM? I'm also a spring admit and I can't find anything on OASIS regarding an appointment time for registration. I thought we were supposed to register during orientation after getting our academic advisement.

I looked on OASIS and it gave me the same date and time for my appointment. But I am almost positive our registration for classes is at our orientation. It says on the schedule even! Someone call, lol, because I hate waiting in the phone line. "Thanks for waiting, there are 28 callers ahead of you...just a moment..." It is something like that each time.

Yeah guys, you're going to have to wait until orientation, because you have to take placement tests first to determine some of your class placements, get D-clearances for any restricted classes, plus you do have to have mandatory advisement before you register. I'm sure that the advisement hold on your accounts won't be lifted until your orientation day, so you won't be able to register anyway before then.

Oh yeah, and they also have to teach you how to use our lovely (and tedious) web reg program. ;)

I got a question. I'm currently taking Math 118 at Mt.SAC and I'm planning to take Math 218 for the spring semester at USC. Since the orientation is on 12/5-6, and by that time, my classes havent exactly ended yet, how can I register for Math 218 if Math 118 is a prerequisite? Any way I can prove that I'm actually really taking and passing the class?

masterchiefll, your math class placement is based on the math placement test. The test covers mostly material from 118. If you do well, then you should be ok to register for 218.

Hey redski, but I thought Math 218 doesn't depend on the math placement scores? Or at least that's what the math department says:

Math 118: Prerequisite: MATH 117 or math placement exam.
Math 218: Prerequisite: MATH 118x or MATH 125.

ok, my fault. For you, 118 is the course that requires the placement exam.

I'm in engineering; 125 is the course for us that we need to take the placement exam.

Hope I didn't confuse you! :o

alright spring admits....yes we register for our classes during orientation. I know because I emailed the orientation office yesterday and received a response from them today (pretty quick, if you ask me). This is what it said:

We set aside a few hours at Orientation so all incoming students can register for their classes, so you will register either on December 6 or January 3, depending on which session you are attending.

Masterchief, your name exhibits your actions. Thank you.

Any of you spring admits received the housing packet yet? They said mid-November...so...it could (and SHOULD) come anytime now!

No. I don't expect it for awhile. They are always behind.

It is not necessary to wait until orienation to register for spring, at least for those who live near USC.

I went for advisement yesterday, got my hold removed, and registered this morning! I really recommend that those who live near USC go and get thier advisement hold removed and register ASAP! Classes are filling up!

That is so lame. What are people who live an 8 hours drive away supposed to do? Will the classes really fill up before my chance to register and everything?
