I graduated from high school last year and took the fall semester off from college because I decided the school I had originally decided to go to (UMaryland) was not the right choice for me. I was wait listed and rejected last year from SB, so I've decided to re-apply, but want to go to school in the spring. Is it possible for me to apply as a freshman and not a transfer student for spring 2012? The common app does allow me to do so, but i'm only heard of transfers for the spring. Also, when will I hear back.
Thanks

If you haven’t enrolled in classes, then yes, you’d apply as a freshman. We take a very, very small freshman class each spring.

If you enrolled in classes at UMd and then withdrew, then we’ll need a transcript showing that, and in which case you’d be applying as a transfer with zero credits. Once you enroll in college, anywhere, then we have to consider you as a transfer student.

It’s a tough slog for students in your situation, though, because the number of spaces is very small. I’d have a backup plan just in case.
