Transferring to UMD after 1st sem at college...

<p>Can somebody please explain the application process of transferring after the fall semester of freshman year?</p>

<p>How do you apply for spring 2012? Would I do it as a freshman or as a transfer?</p>

<p>UMD's transfer applications are on a rolling basis and due on Dec.1 ... while freshman applications are non-rolling and due Nov.1. </p>

<p>To be considered a transfer it has something to do with 12 college credits - do you have to have completed 12 or can you have 12 credits in progress? Because by Dec.1, I don't think I could have the 12 credits completed-fall semesters usually finish the last wk of December.</p>

<p>On the other hand, applying as a freshman for spring would mean applying like a high school student..the freshman apps are designed specifically for hs students, not for hs graduates. All of the forms are based pretty much on the high school system.</p>

<p>I’m assuming almost no one gets in as a transfer after first semester because during the regular application process UMD defers a ton of people to Spring semester, so I’d think all the slots would be gone.</p>

<p>I would recommend applying for fall 2012. The reason being that i was admitted as a freshmen, but chose not to attend. I then realized I didn’t like the school I went to over UMD and tried to transfer for spring 2011 and was denied. I have no applied again for fall 2011 with the hopes that I get in.</p>
