Any other Spring 2016 (January 2016) admits out there? D was wait listed for the Fall, admitted for the Spring. How does that work? Has anyone experienced the Spring admit? How was it? Love to hear from students who are admitted to Spring semester and students who have gone through Spring admission before - thanks!
My son was a Spring admit as well. If he goes this route, we are looking at programs through Carpe Diem (which would provide for some course credits, service work and travel) for the fall semester.
I’ve heard there are about 80 students who start in the spring each year.
Here is a link I found on the Elon website, which gives a little info re: dates to start, etc.

I wonder if all waitlisted students are offered spring admission, or if it is just some…
I should point out that the link is for last year, but it still gives you an idea of how it would work…
My D was accepted for spring 2016 and wait listed for fall 2015 as well. It’s her #1 school and she’s upset that she isn’t in this fall. They mentioned that she is top priority on wait list. Does anyone know if Elon will let them do a semester abroad through Elon? What was the Carpe Diem program? I too would love to hear from students who have started in the spring and how it went.
My S is in the same position. It’s strange - I have never heard of a spring admission offer and we assumed Elon was a backup for him- he has been admitted to much higher ranked universities/business schools with merit scholarships so we were somewhat confused- but not disappointed. Elon must have received an excellent pool of candidates this year- congrats to all who have been accepted and plan to enroll and to those left with the decision of waiting until spring - good luck!
I had not heard of Spring admission offers before either - but then I read about it and it makes perfect business sense from the college standpoint. D was academically accepted for Fall admission at every other college she applied - most all with sizable academic scholarships… so I agree, Elon had to have had an excellent pool of candidates this year - big congrats to Elon and all that have been accepted to date!! Impressive school!
Many schools offer spring admits for a wide range of reasons. It comes down to whether the school is your top choice and what your other options are. If you really want to go to the school, it means you’re still in, and you graduate with the same degree as everyone else.
My D is also accepted for Spring. She’s struggling with her decision. I’m hesitant to allow her to enroll in a different University for just one semester with plans to switch to Elon mid year. Her options are our local community college (she’s not thrilled with this) or a travel abroad semester (need to do some homework). Any suggestions for travel programs would be appreciated! This certainly is an awkward place to be at this point in the college journey. Soring admission programs seem to growing in popularity (makes good business sense). The question is … Worth the wait???
I have a question on the enrollment deposit. D is accepted for Spring, and elected to be put on the wait list for Fall. So does she have to pay the enrollment deposit by May 1st to keep those options in place?
The website for Elon indicates that $500 is due Dec 1 for spring admission. There are other requirements listed (primarily related to final high school transcripts and fall semester coursework).
