Spring 2016 Transfer

Hi, I’m currently a freshman at a state school in Pennsylvania with a 3.8 GPA, but I’m applying to Temple for the spring. Since I’m applying with under 30 credits they’re looking at my high school grades, which were okay…I did get one F, a 58 in Physics my junior year, with the occasional D in sophomore/junior math classes but overall mostly A’s and B’s, and senior year was almost all A’s…I finished high school overall with a 3.0 GPA. Plus I always got A’s or B’s in my history classes, and I’m applying to be a History major. I’m hoping my great first semester college grades help me out a bit.
Additionally I have tons of extracurriculars. In high school I was president of the Marching Band, Chorus, Literary Magazine, and student-run Variety Show, as well as being involved in the Jazz Band, Performing Arts (I got the leading role twice), and volunteering at my church. For college, I’m involved with the community service club, Philanthropy Chair for my sorority, Secretary for the Geography Club, Bible study, and I’m involved in multiple vocal groups.
I applied about two weeks ago but Temple just processed my application yesterday. I think my essay was pretty good.
So with a 3.0 in high school, a 3.8 first semester of college, 1750 SAT, and TONS of extracurriculars with leadership positions, what do you think my transfer chances are? I’m just hoping my one F doesn’t doom me :frowning: Also, how long do you expect it’ll take for me to hear back?
Thanks so much in advance for ANY responses!

Also, I took all honors or AP in History and English all throughout high school. Once again, thanks!

Temple has a pretty high acceptance rate (85%-range) for transfers. Your prospects are pretty good, provided you don’t need financial aid or housing. My son was admitted as a transfer. They asked for his high school grades (no better than yours) and test scores (over 2000). He was waitlisted once, and then admitted after taking several courses at a C.C. (he had spent 3 semesters at an arts college before that). If you don’t get in this time, try again. By the way, they did not admit my son until they had his transcripts from last fall; he was notified of his admission for January '15 on Christmas Eve. Needless to say, our Christmas was much merrier, and more relaxed, after that.
