Hey guys, I’m new here.
I’m just finishing my first semester at a SUNY community college. I’ve applied to transfer to John Jay, Baruch, Hunter, and Brooklyn; in order of preference. I really only want to go to John Jay for forensics and security. I would consider Baruch and Hunter, but I don’t know if they’d be right for me.
The online portal says:
“An admissions decision has been made by the college(s) listed on your application. You will receive notification from only one college choice shortly”… you know, just to torture me.
It changed to this about a week ago, and I’ve heard nothing. Rumor has it that I’ll be contacted within 2 weeks.
But yesterday I decided to call the automated phone line for checking your application status. I don’t see the number on the website, but it’s on the second page of the application summary packet I received. 212-997-CUNY
Once it knew my identity, the robot said this (paraphrased):
“An admissions decision has been made by the following college.
You will receive notification from the following college choice within the next two weeks. You will only receive a decision from the following college. John Jay College. To repeat these options…”
That means I got into John Jay, right?? It kept saying “the following college”, but didn’t list a college till the end. It only said John Jay. I don’t want to celebrate till I know for sure… If anyone else in my situation tries the number, can you let me know if it gives you what college you’ll be hearing from?
On another note, I see people posting their grades and stuff… I applied to the CUNY system as a freshman for this semester, but made plans to go to a private school that then had to change due to financial difficulties. I included the Fall 2017 app info in case any freshman applicants want to see.
Applying as a freshman, Fall 2017:
-3.24 GPA
-Old SAT 580 reading 550 math
-No essay
I got into Queens, Brooklyn, Lehman, John Jay, CCNY; and was rejected by Hunter.
Transfer, Spring 2018:
-3.5 - 4.0 GPA, depending on upcoming grades
-16 credits in English, math, communications, and Arabic
-One “W” grade from an art class
-Also submitted HS transcript and SAT scores
Applied to John Jay, Baruch, Hunter, and Brooklyn.
