Spring Admission Housing

Hey all it would be great if a couple things could be clarified for me concerning spring admission housing at USC. So I am currently accepted for spring 2011 and will be taking community college classes in the fall and I have already applied on the USC StarRez Portal Housing application however it says that my application is incomplete. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe it is because I have not received any room assignments yet so I can not confirm payment, or complete the contract, or complete the meal plan. So:

Am I correct in believing that one day I will receive a rooming assignment and thus be able to complete my application and have everything be hunky dory in spring?

Also,

When can I expect this assignment?

Does anyone know the process of taking over someone else's contract for housing?

Thanks for reading through the post and for your time

It won’t be complete until November. That’s when housing is assigned for spring admits. I was confused about that too. And I don’t know anything about taking over housing but I hope I can in a dorm.

I don’t know if this helps or anything, but my sorority was telling me that any new members who are interested in living in our house can go to housing and ask to get out of their housing contracts (after paying a penalty), and then their spot would be offered to a spring admit. So theoretically, you could be living in Trojan or one of the campus-owned apartments, for example (I happen to know sisters who currently live there. I don’t know if they plan on moving in or not).

The best way to go about spring admit housing is to take someone else’s contract. If you don’t, you’ll likely end up in one of the less social apartment complexes. If you’re in a spring admit group on facebook, current students often post their contracts in hopes of attracting a spring admit to take it. If you’re looking for the social dorm experience, see if you can find someone moving out of New/North or Birnkrant. It will be difficult to find someone because most students don’t move out of those dorms. However, I know multiple spring admits who ended up in the dorms.

I don’t know if you’re a guy or a girl, but for girls at least, the houses that have room for new mems to move in spring semester aren’t usually the houses that get a lot of people from New/North and Birnkrant, they’re usually the houses with girls from the southside and Parkside areas. It’s a weird correlation, but it seems that the northside kids (New/North & Birnkrant) end up in the houses that are already physically full (e.g. I highly doubt that any freshmen will be moving into Pi Phi next semester, as I know of a few older Pi Phis that are boarding in another sorority’s house). (not that all northside girls go to Pi Phi, those that do go Greek go to a variety of different houses, but I don’t think they’re usually in the ones with room for freshmen).

Sorry if this is really confusing.

Hey, so I’m a sophomore living in Troy apartments (its an apartment building adjacent to campus-literally a 5 minute walk away) and I’m trying to break my contract next semester and live in my sorority house. While some spring admits get into dorms, I knew of some spring admits last year who got TERRIBLE housing far from campus. So if any of you girls/any girls you know are in need of housing, it would definitely be preferable to live in troy! Im in a five person apartment with four chill girls- its $2925 a semester which is also cheaper than most other options!

one girl needed to take over my lease for the spring semester in Tuscany! 5 mins from campus and 5 great sophomore transfers to show you the ropes  It will be cheaper than the USC options! message me for details!
