So, I'm curious. NYU has a much later transfer deadline date than other colleges, and they release their decisions beginning in May. All of the other schools I've applied to release their decisions in March/April. Does this mean NYU takes spring semester grades into consideration?

Actually I’m curious too!!! I apply as a transfer to CAS. How about u??? Have u gotten anything back from the school?

I applied to CAS as well. Haven’t sent in my application yet, though I always wait to the last minute on these sort of things…

I’ve already submitted mine!!! Gd luck! Hey, what major r u going to apply? I’m a little bit nervous now, bc I don’t really the admitting rate and what they really want to find from me…

No. NYU does not consider spring grades. Many schools do not release decisions until mid-may. (E.g. most of the top colleges, from experience I know Duke, Columbia, Cornell all release theirs end of April to mid-May). NYU’s transfer acceptance rate is around 30% - 33% depending on the year.

NYU2013: 30%-33%? that’s really high!

Thanks, NYU2013!

I’m applying for Hellenistic Studies. Probably the only transfer they’ve gotten in a reallyyyyyyyyy long time who’s opted for that, if ever, haha. What about you?

It’s not that high. It’s typically easier to get into a school as a transfer than an incoming freshmen. A lot of schools have around a 30%+ acceptance rate for transfers.

I’m applying as a journalism major which seems so popular in NYU. I really hope we both can get in!!!

Actually Spring semester grades are taken into consideration for sone cases. I was accepted to Stern as a transfer and they asked me to have my professors submit a grade report for their class up to the time they asked for it. Basically what my “current grade” was. I didn’t finish exams or anything so my professors had to calculate without finals. If they ask for your spring grades it’s actually a good sign. It means that they’re interested in you and want to make sure you stood consistent after the fall semeste. Good luck guys!

Rob2391: thx so much! Yea I think I still need to pay attention to this semester. I wonder when did they send u email for ur grade and if it is ok, could u please tell the overall status of u when u applied? Thx again~

I submitted mine already so I doubt they will ask for them before they review my application. But…I do have a friend who tranferred to UWis for spring semester and they asked for her fall semester grades when they came in. So basically spring grades wont weigh into your admission decision but they can rescind your acceptance if your GPA took a huge hit. I’m applying as an anthro major- I actually applied last year but im hoping for better financial aid this time. Probably a lost cause.

Good luck to you!

@Kimishi They emailed me around the end of April and you have to get them back to them in a week. I heard back around the end of May. They say you’ll get a decision in May but it’s always at the end because of the number of applicants. I’m at Stern now and I don’t regret transferring at all.

@Rob2391: thx for ur answer and I appreciate. I think all I can do now is waiting~ bc there seems not so much info about transfer to CAS. Hope it will be fine :)))
