Spring vs Fall semester

Is applying for Spring semester for grad school more competitive than applying for Fall Semester?

It got to my attention because for example Purdue says that applying for Spring semester is "Highly selective with minimal financial aid available"... Hope this information is not the same for other schools...

Very few schools even consider candidates for the Spring semester. Those that do either have little to no aid available for new students. I think the only exception is if you already have contact with a potential research advisor who has funds available to you.

I see.. it does make sense that there is less financial aid available and less RA and TA positions.

However, does the selectivity also go up? Is there a place that has acceptance rates?

Thank you.

As has been said, there are hardly any programs that accept for the spring semester. And for those that do, yes, the selectivity generally goes up significantly, because they base the number of open spots on what's left over from fall admissions.

"selectivity generally goes up significantly, because they base the number of open spots on what's left over from fall admissions."

That just... sucks... lol
Anyways, thanks~
