Sproul Hall

Sorry for another one of these threads, but there isn't really a lot of information I could find about Sproul Hall... so, my question is: what is it like (social life, amenities, location, etc)? Also, are there a lot of other freshmen in Sproul or are the majority 2nd years/upperclassmen? I ask because I was looking at the UCLA Freshman Housing 2010 thread and the UCLA Official Class of 2014 group on FB and I only found like 2 out of 80 people who were placed in Sproul lol

sproul is the best hall in the best location. you’re very lucky! i think sproul 2 is a freshman floor (this year, at least), but generally sproul consists of sophomores. it goes to show how much sproul is in demand haha. personally, i’m living in sproul next year.

Sproul is pretty much the best res hall to live in, and fills up the fastest. Mostly 2nd years and 3rd years live in sproul. It’s not one of the more social halls, but I guess that’s trade off. Expect around 1/4 or less to be 1st years. I got sproul as a freshman, and although the social life wasn’t so great, it’s a really good place to live in, wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

i’m an incoming freshman with sproul tooooooooo, and i haven’t seen many others with it either.

does this mean there’s a chance i’m going to room with someone who’s a 2nd year?

AFAIK the 2nd years and up were consolidated as much as possible during our housing sign-up process to make room for all-freshman rooms. For example, I am in a triple but I only chose one roommate, and instead of leaving the third spot open for a freshman they moved a lone second year to our room.

BTW, to the second years on this thread, I’m gonna be a second year living in Sproul next year too, and I’m super excited but I’m wondering: even though it’s not our first year anymore, will a lot of friendships be formed amongst floormates even though everyone’s life on campus is a bit more established now? I ask because most of my friends ended up in Rieber Hall and I want to also get to know the people on my floor.

Thanks for the info! I’m excited to be in Sproul…although I hope it isn’t lacking too much in the social life department.
