Squadron Duties

I have heard a lot of talk about squadron duties in addition to the academic workload. What do “squadron duties” entail?

bump bump

I know this is a broad question, but it's a good one, if you have time. :)

Taking out trash in the morning or evening. Um...that's about it for 4 digs.

We have to clean the common areas and take out the trash. That is all I would count as squadron duties.

There are a lot of squadron related events for the 4*s. We have training sessions and briefings more often.

I know this isn't related to the thread, but I was having problems trying to start a new thread. I was just wondering what kind of clothes the cadets are allowed to wear in the dorms at night. Can 4digs wear comfortable clothes like sweat pants or is it all BDU's, all the time.

I'm pretty sure civilian clothes (like sweatpants) are authorized after Recognition, but I'll let the 4*s say for sure. Do you guys have clothing priviliges now?

Pre-recognition. You cannot wear anything except a uniform. Depending on the squad, you may be authorized physical conditioning gear (mesh blue shorts with USAFA T) after ACQ (1910 or 1940 till TAPS [2245]), but we weren't. We had to wear a uniform till we went to bed. Now, technically we can only wear civvies when signing out, so not during the week. But for bedtime we will wear what's comfy, like the nice plaid PJ pants I'm in right now. :) Simple pleasures.

Holy cow, are you supposed to sleep in a uniform too prior to recognition? I never expected that my running shorts would be a privilege. :)

No, we were supposed to be in a uniform until going to bed. What you wear after taps is up to you.

Of course, still no civvies though.

In addition to the trash detail (which is admittedly the worst, dreaded me and my fellow 4 degrees), there is also bathrooms (basically just making sure there is nothing on the floor and no majorly huge messes), comics (putting up comic strips in the bathroom for entertainment), CQ desk cleaning, and hallway cleaning. At least thats how it is for my squad.

I was kidding about the uniform to bed thing. Thanks for the clarification though guys. :)

they do have issued pjs, which you ahve to wear during basic. until recongition though, you ahve to be in uniform (blues/bdus) til bed, but in bed can pretty much wear pc gear, the issued sweats, the issued pjs, or not much if you so desire. most people do pc gera unless its really cold
