I'm sure you will get one, it's probably like something that happened with me, my ALO was out of town. I imagine everyone gets an interview...

Hope so...my ALO in the past has shown some...ummm...lethargic responses to my phone calls...

Just had my interview on saturday night. The alo was pretty laid back and nice and I thought it went well. I was surprised that he did not ask me any questions about my motives or leadership, he really only went through my resume with me explaining important points and giving extra information about the things I had done.

Generally speaking for SS the top fourth of applicants are admitted without an interview. The bottom fourth are rejected without an interview. The middle half are interviewed and usually about half of them are accepted. In a typical year about 1700 will apply and 800 will be accepted.

Wow, that few?
Any idea when we'll hear back if our ALO hasn't contacted us yet? Should my ALO have contacted me by now?

I read somewhere that about 4,000 people apply....

Yeah CW I want to know also when we should know whether or not we were accepted...

What were your stats? Maybe you were rejected; I highly doubt that though because CW has strong stats. I would just say be patient, it will come. As for me I have my interview tomorrow after school!

Good luck, Josh! Hopefully I'll hear by the end of the week.

Thanks! If I were you I would give the academy a call tomorrow and find out what's up and get the phone number for my ALO. If I had to guess, it's his end that is the problem.

I'll give it to the end of the week.

I don't want to list all my stats but i was alright in athletics, very strong in leadership positions, strong in civic involvement and volunteering, i got a 28 on my ACT, a 191 on my PSAT and a 24 on my PLAN, my statement of desire was about 8 sentences and in my opinion was concise, well thought out, and goal oriented. I would expect that I either didn't get in or my ALO just hasn't contacted me. As I said before, he took like 2 and a half weeks to return my 4 phone calls (one of which was to his home), and he never responded to my e-mails. I'm not blaming him or anything because I don't know what is going on on his end. If I didn't get in though I sure would like to know.

Durglas, if it makes you feel any better, my D has had the same response. She has very similar stats and felt that she was a strong candidate.

CWJONES411,

I live in nj too. And I have heard nothing about my acceptance to SS. Maybe they chose candidates from less competition regions first. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, hopefully. Where in NJ do you live?

Possibly they do this for a reason?

Maybe to give people time to get their applications in? Who knows...

Remember that the ALOs are volunteers, they have jobs and families, and many other responsibilities above an beyond worrying 24/7 about summer seminar applicants. Let your application speak for itself. Be patient and let the process take its course...this is only the start...and even if you don't get a slot you'll fall into the majority of the class (about 2/3) that didn't attend. The application process is more of a marathon than a sprint and is a test of your motivation to obtain an appointment.

^^^Words of wisdom.

CWJONES411,

I live in middlesex county. where do you live?
