Candidate Kits?

Anyone received theirs yet? I know they came late last year because of some problems they had with the move of the admissions office.

Hopefully they’ll be coming soon

S called admissions earlier this week and they told him around the end of August.

I know he's anxious to get on with it. He's completed apps for MsOC, ROTC and a couple of colleges.

If you check the admissions website...i know all the guys from my element in summer seminar and I have recieved updated pages with the list of everything we need and a note saying the package is on it's way.

Right you are. S told me it hadn't changed for so long he didn't even check it. Thanks.

im curious, ive seen people talk about "S" before... who/what is "S"?

Thanks...

"S" is short for son.

Curious...does everyone elses page say that they're missing an offical ACT/SAT score, and CFA test? I know I've sent them my ACT score, and the CFA we took at the academy during summer seminar was supposed to count.

S thought the CFA at SS was just practice - due to the disadvantage those from lower elevations would have. His SAT is reported correctly further down the page, but in the forms section it does say the SAT score is missing. Not to worry, I'm sure.

"S thought the CFA at SS was just practice "

I've been wondering if that's the case. Though our cadet said it would count, I'm not that sure if he was right. I was actually very happy with my score though!

S was ok with his score except the mile - I think the altitude smoked him. He'll do better at sea level. I know he really wants to be a "red tag bastard".

Curious how you liked SS? S was invited to USMA and USNA seminars, but couldn't attend. I was curious how the 3 programs compare.

"S was ok with his score except the mile"

Same here...I ran a personal worst for the year there (miles my event in track).

I only did the air force summer seminar (only academy i'm interested in). Overall I thought it was a really good program. Best part of my week there was probably doolie day. It was good to see just how frustrating getting through one meal can be. Physically I didn't think the training was overly hard, though by the end of our sets of pushups to get our hats back I proably would have said different. The thing that will stick in my head is when i got asked "why is the sky blue. Natually I responded SIR I DO NOT KNOW!!. That went on a couple times until I was thourally confused, and then I got schooled in the correct response to "why questions" (NO EXCUSE SIR!).

In other aspects, the professors there really impressed me. I've always wanted to do asto. engineering, and I had a great seminar in that department that convinced me I would shoot for that if I go to the academy. Interaction with the cadets there was also very good. It was good to be able to ask any questions we had to our cadet and get an honest answer.

Overall it was a very good week, and something I would recommend to anyone considering the academy. Convinced me too that I wanted to be an RTB.

hm....according to USAFA, on my admissions page, they've supposedly sent me a kit....so i'll post when i recieve mine~

hmmm, mine doesnt say anything about that. Mine says im an applicant/competitive, lists my counselor and ALO, tests scores, personal info, etc but nothing about a kit...

::worried?::

You shouldn't be...i knew some people who's pages were updated a whole week before mine.

I got smoked by the mile as well and my usual altitude is 3200 feet. I too thought Doolie was the best part. The meal was kinda rough though. I thought the hill sprints were the toughest part of the physical activity. The first one we did, my element partner and I were the first ones to the top of the hill, then we had to go down to the football field were some jerk was waiting with a golf club and ball, he hit it and said we had 10 seconds to bring it back to him. There was obviously no chance so we had to do some pushups.

I was very impressed by all the facilities there and I also want to go into Astro. Engineering despite the fact that my rocket was mulched by a mower on the parade field.

I feel myself starting to wave my hat and yell "RTB!"

Curious...what was your element/session.

Session 1, B-5

"despite the fact that my rocket was mulched by a mower on the parade field."

Haha that sucks. I did the small scale rockets class too it was cool. By the way, a guy in my element recieved his packet on Friday/Saturday. He lives in Colorado Springs so I'm sure the location had something to do with it.

Well i called and they said it was because i was medically DQd from last year. My counselor said they would send out a kit once they received my waiver request (sent today) but i highly doubt that... I dont think they would really send it out till (if) it gets cleared. Why would they send it out before then?

Falconhopeful06, what session and element were you?
