Warning for anyone wanting to change their name in the future: you must fill out an SS5 with the Social Security Administration or they will consider you to be two different people. My parents never contacted the SSA and now I'm getting letters from colleges saying that they have no proof that I exist. :(

my friend is originally from bulgaria, but she became a citizen sophomore year. unfortunately the SSA messed up and told all the colleges and scholarships she applied to that she wasn't a citizen. she didn't find out till notre dame called her and told her she wasn't a citizen. she freaked, had to call the SSA to confirm her citizenship call all the colleges and scholarships and send photcopies of her passport to them to prove her citizenship. totally sucky

I sent photocopies of my passport just in case, bc i just became a citizen last year.

yeah...just when I thought I was done sending mail to colleges...off to lick postsage stamps

Yeah, when I changed my name, I had to get a new Social Security card, same # though luckily. Hope everything goes well for you!
