SSAT and Loomis Chaffee

i haven't taken the SSAT yet, and I've looked at everyone who's posted their score on here and I'm kinda freaking out about it. How should I prepare for it?

For Loomis I've completed everything.
I have GREAT grades. High Honors since 6th grade.
I've gotten a Scholar Award, my Silver Award in Girl Scouts, I've been confirmed, gotten my 5 year in dance, played soccer for 9 years (captain of JV team this year), managing my high school hockey team, and i teach sunday school at my church.

I'm a sophmore, applying for my junior year
Do I have a change?

i didn't mean change, i meant chance*

If you get above a 75, preferably 80, you would definitely have a shot of getting in.

I would say a good chance for loomis if you in the 80's

Don't worry, i'm kinda freaking out about my soon to be SSAT scores to. I have no idea how to get those high scores.

You will get them if your smart which you people probably are, and maybe a little preparation. I got 98%, but I did alot of verbal work and got 99% there. I'm taking it again because my mom already paid for it though.

I believe its next saturday right?

umm
it depends on how good your extra curriculars are.
you ahve excellent grades, but your REAWLLY lacking in the arts.
like if your amazing at an instrument or your nationally ranked in a sport
they dont have to be amazing
i suggest you get like an 85 to balance that out. gl!

somewhere in the 80's and above and you'll be fine, but never be too sure. study before the next test

The average SSAT score is at the 78th percentile for Loomis Chaffee. At the same time, we do not have any cut-offs in the process. Some students will fall well above and others may be below. Testing is simply one piece in the admission process. Loomis will look at everything the potential student has to offer to the school. Plus Loomis really stresses academics, athletics, and arts, therefore it tends to be interested in a well-rounded applicant.

tyguy, how do you what the average SSAT's scores are for the schools?

Latin55555:
boardingschoolreviews.com They have a list of almost every school (though I'm not sure why Taft isn't on it) and they give stats like avg. SSAT, # of students, ect..

starz27: no taft is here: Taft School - Boarding School Profile
the stats for SAT and SSAT are a lil old for most of the schools on there

Thats so strange, the link works just fine, but I cannot find it when I just go to the website and search it. It's not on the master list, or the list of CT schools.

Thanks for the link. I think that website is outdated, it says that Taft does not require the SSAT's. We all know that all elite schools require SSAT's.

Latin: They are saying that you can either take the SSAT's or the ISEE's or if you are applying as an upperclassman the PSAT's. They would rather you take the SSAT's, and (that's what most people do) but they don't require it. (I think, correct me if I'm wrong)

Your right, but then it would say that for the Exeters and the Andovers also. But it does not

Taft at BoardingSchoolReview.com: doesn't show up on their lists. It does show up in some searches. That's how it was last year. A bit odd....perhaps they asked BSR not to list them, so they aren't on the main pages, but they never got rid of them from the searches. For the most accurate information, you should go to the Taft web site.
