What did everyone get on their SSAt's? I choked on the Verbal and math because i was sick and landed myself a 93%ile

What r your EC's, and how did ur interviews go and what do you know about the schools ur applying to?

I have seen this happen with my friends. Some come in with an 80 or 70 because they have legacy, or athletes. Some don't get in even with 99 percentile. you have to remember that although SSAT is a factor that lets the admission compare students from different backgrounds it is definitely not the sole factor that determines you eligibility. same thing with sat. good luck anyway

I know. Thanks for the pat on the shoulder. I needed it. R u going to a prep schol or applying?

P.S.Kevin, I'm no legacy, I need a heck of a lot of FA, and I dont have thatmany EC's, partially because my school sucks

just curious, what's considered an excellent SSAT score?

I don't know. I think the average is 88%ile for schools like Choate. The highest average %ile for a new england school is 93%ile for Andover

Seriously? I pwned the SAT's then.

How many of you out there took SSAT prep classes or tutoring and did you say so on your applications (say under extra classes or tutoring)? Or did your current school prep you or did you go in cold?

I didn't get to prep with anyone, I even had to pay for the test myself. Tha's life. And if i got my current school to help me I'd have done it definitely

P>S.I wouldn't have so on my apps though.

Many kids with scores in the 60-70% get into these schools. The SSAT is just one factor. Anything in the 90s is excellent and the difference between a 91 and 99 percentile won't be the decision-factor.

Thanks mom. What schools r ur kids applying to

she's a parent dude...

He is ajunior at a school in NJ, but I know a lot about the admissions process for the New England schools and the mid-Atlantic schools. He picked his school because it has a coach he wanted to work with, plus great academics. Smaller than some of the ones y'all are looking at.

I'm looking at an all girls school called westover and it's really small. You can really notice the difference in the atmosphere

Random question:Why do we all want to go to choate, andover or exeter? I dont get it. I mean are we all superficial that all we can think of is the name of a school?

Why? Hmm... brilliant education...kids from around the world...amazing teachers...ECs like nothing else...good point! Why are we doing this?

-98% on my SSAT- and I had a good essay too, I think. It was easy. I didnt even know they had prep classes for it. I just studied myself.

-ECs? Just a huge amount of theatre work. Not much else, but I am homeschooled, so my guess is they'll overlook some deficiency there.

-My interviews were great. I only started to sweat once, but I calmed down and it was fine. I liked the interviewers too.

I think I might get into Groton. They just built a brand new theatre (its beautiful), so they may be interested in getting some fresh blood for their theatre department. Dont know about the rest.

jthecanadian- How'd your SAT go? you took it young.

I didn't mean it like that. It's just that you can get just as good an education at taft than at exeter and the same amount of art as Choate in loomis, yet every time I read these websites, i see loomis isn't good enough, etc.

P.S.You're homeschooled TJ? I was too for a while(1/2 4th,5th,1.2 6th,7th). I'm kindof lacking in awards and ecs too.Where r u appling to besides groton?
