SSAT Practice Test Scores: Uh-oh

I'm taking the SSAT next weekend and I'm freaking out. I just took a practice test. I'm fine with math (80s/90s) but reading comp is is mediocre (70ish) and verbal is awful. Any tips for improving these scores? Thanks!

You can try last minute cramming for the vocabulary, and you may or may not be successful. Trying to memorize a list of words generally isn’t as effective as taking the time to use and practice with them, but with a week left, there’s not much else you can do.

My best suggestion would be to register for the December (or January) test, and treat this one as a practice run. Relax, don’t panic, and see how it goes. Maybe it will turn out better than you expect. And, if not, you spend a month working on vocabulary and go into the next test better prepared.

@smelltheroses,
I’ve found that the Princeton Review’s practice tests are not like what the real test is like. I’d take the tests out of the Official Preparing and Applying Book and see how you do on those. And even if you do bad the first time (like I have) you can always try again next time. We have like 3 more shots at the SSAT. Hopefully we won’t need all of them.

what are good scores for vocab? like, 90th percentile or above
in terms of 600, 625 kind of thing
