SSAT score good for Exeter, Lawrenceville, Andover, Deerfield, or Hotchkiss?

SSAT Score - 93% - Perfect Math - Scaled : 2238/2400

yep- usually anything above a 90%tile should be fine for any school

Thanks, this was the weakness of my application and I just wanted to make sure that the schools wouldn’t reject me for it.

as long as you are well rounded your score can be 1950+. These schools have a million academic “scholars” applying so often that the need for more well rounded kids with maybe less than perfect scores are desired.

And just to be clear, your SSAT score will allow your application to clear that hurdle. It’s not like this determine who gets in.

As @gardenstategal wrote, you cleared one hurdle. At the same time, 93% is just average for these schools. I would be curious of your ECs. These (excellent) SSAT scores were your weakness?!

Side note, 93% being average is nothing to worry about. Consensus is anything around 90% clears the hurdle. A 99% does not trump admissions to a 91% score alone. It is about the total application.

I think this is something that kids refuse to believe but most parents (on CC) deeply understand. I wish people would read this before they started posting.

I have seen it irl with kids who got 99% not understanding a total rejection from schools.

We know kids with lower scores at all of the top schools, but they all had something else of note to contribute. These schools aren’t looking for top scorers. They are looking for kids who are outstanding in other ways and who are likely to make a positive contribution to the school community. Test scores are just a tool to help figure out if you will be able to handle the academic rigor.

should i send both scores to the schools. one test i got a lower overall percentile but high verbal section, the other i got a higher percentile but a lower verbal section ?

Also, what did you do for your additional information section? Essay, story or blank. Im stumped ?

@stressedpotatoo (I love ur username btw), I believe most schools super score, as in they take the highest of each, so send both I guess

Thanks so much for all the advice.

Thanks again for all the help during the admissions process. The long wait is finally over and now I can’t wait for what the future holds.

What schools did you get in to? (If you are willing to tell)

It is good for anywhere as it’s above 90%. I wouldn’t count on it though because they have a ton of people in 90th %ile and it’s been more competitive each year (especially because of covid) I think the average for Exeter/Andover is 94th %ile so you will have to be well rounded with a spike

For most of the “top” schools, a 93% is perfectly fine. It alone won’t get you in, but neither will a 99%.

If you have very good grades, an excellent SSAT (which you have), good ECs, and are a decent person in the interviews showing enthusiasm for the school, you have an equally decent chance of getting in.

Best of luck.
