Is a SSAT score of 87% (2145) good enough for schools like Exeter, Andover, and St. Paul's?
I'd be able to write good essays, and my teachers (I think) would write me some nice stuff... and I get A+'s in every subject in school... and I speak 4 different languages fluently.
I've won swimming awards, art awards, clarinet awards too, but I've just started the flute about 2 years ago and quit the clarinet. I also tap dance, and I started tennis about a year ago, and I do community service at church, leading the songs in chapel for Sunday School.

Not too sure. You could consider a retake, anything over a 90 ensures a better chance, your ec's aren't that bad either. You might need more though. You have a medium chance.

While they won't make you stand out as an applicant to the schools you mention, those scores will definitely put you in contention for a spot. Good Job!

I'll post here what I posted in another topic to the OP:

Any SSAT score - even in the upper 90's - you need to be great at everything to get into those schools.
Your score of upper 80's puts you in the game - you will NOT be rejected because of those scores. That said, you should consider others as well (even if you had 99%) unless your local school is a back up plan you will be happy with.

By the way - you CAN retake it and the schools will simply have both sets of scores. That's not a problem at all. But, there is no reason to.

i'm a tenth grader atm. and i just got my SSAT scores back...

and i have to say i'm really dissapointed and i don't know what happened

V - 662
M - 659
R - 695
Total - 2016.

my percentiles are really low. ):
for verbal: 47!
math: 29!
reading: 68!

my total percentile is a 47!

anyway, im wondering if its all they look at.

i don't understand how i did so bad in math.
i take honors algebra 2 and i have a 97.
for english i have a 90.
in honors spanish i have a 94.
honors history 93.
honors spanish 93.
photography 95.
and in honors bio 92.

honors is the highest my school goes for classes.
i do so great with grades and i'm smart! but i dont know why
i did so bad compared to all the other tenth graders and such.
i'm afraid that the BS i'm applying to won't even look at me.

I was pretty disappointed with my SSAT scores as well. I received a 87% as well. I really needed a 90% minimum. I am a bit distressed about the score. In reality 3% is really only about 4 or 5 questions, but the 87% sticks out like a sore thumb on my application. I got an A+ in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Spanish, and an A in music... I feel that Middlesex is a good match for me. My SSAT scores are right on their average, and I have good EC's rec's and all. Now this is the funny thing...
I tested twice

My math increased from a 63 to a 87. Go figure
My verbal decreased from a 90 to an 85
My reading decreased from a 82 to a 78

The test is very much luck of the draw. I don't think that 3-5% lower average can hurt too bad, or can it?

@ benevolent: doesn't the super-score thing qualify for you? so technically, you'd be a 87, 90, and 82? :)

& the difference between 87 and 90 isn't really significant (well, to me. for you.. ?) and you did a great job, by anybody's standards, i think. :D

i got 95% on my ssat but my grades aren't good i get mostly As but Bs (usually) in biology, geography, and algebra and i got a 72 in geography last 6 weeks. plus I'm taking all regular classes am i screwed?

If you attend a competitive school As and Bs are not bad. It will really depend on your teacher recs. If they say you are hardworking you will be fine. If they complain about you being careless yes.
