Hello, I’m an eighth grade applying to several boarding schools (with Lawrenceville/Middlesex/Hotchkiss at the top of my list.
Considering that I am an international applicant in a rather unique school with the MYP grading scale, how significant of a role will my SSAT score play (I have decent/good grades)?
Choosing to take the test was a last minute decision for me; I have signed up for a test on Jan 8, meaning that I have less than three weeks to prepare. What resources would you recommend me to use, and what are some tips for last minute test taking?
It is very hard to say. It all depends on how well you do different sections. The math section really doesn’t penalize you for too many mistakes, but I would say reading does. Verbal is somewhere in between.
Lol same! I would just keep on doing practice tests and reviewing vocab and basic algebra and geometry skills. Map out your dream score and work upwards towards there. Also go into the exam having a strategy of how many question you might want to skips or get wrong. 80 percentile or better is what you should be aiming for if you are applying to top tier schools. Do not worry you will do just fine!! Nowadays school look more at the applicant than they do scores. : )
