SSAT-Vocab

I, just like many others, took the SSAT last Saturday. I was wondering if anybody else feels like they blew the Verbal section. I had omit 5 and i'm sure i got another 5 wrong which brings it down some more. Did anybody have some trouble with some of the words and analogies.

(what does bigloted mean?) That was the 2nd to last analogy bigloted is to X as y is to z.

I got an 86% on my verbal.
I almost cried.

Flashcards are the best way to study vocab but they are also the most tedious. I just sucked it up and made 100+. I'm taking the SSAT next Jan. so I continue to study while I'm eating dinner, watching America's Next Top Model, sitting in bed, and basically any other time I have a free moment.

P.S. A bigoted (no L) opinion means someone with a view point or opinion that is very out of the ordinary. Narrow minded.
Mabey it was like Bigoted is to Unprejudiced. Hot is to Cold.

A tip for anologies it this: Find the relationship between the two words. In this case. Bigoted is the opposite of Unprejudiced. Hot is the opposite of cold.

the vocab was a disaster. i probably WILL cry when i get my scores!!!! i'm planning on taking it again this january. I omotted five and i'm sure i got at least five wrong.

Remember that the test is also for 9th and 10th graders. There is info on the test that an 8th grader is not expected to know. I am sure that you did fine.
Relax an enjoy your holidays. If you don't like your score, retake in Jan.

An 86% is excellent; please be realistic.

86 was my average last year

maybe being so lax about this whole process isn't going to work

verbal is horrible for me too...I studied over 100+flashcards and alot of words I learned did not show up(go figure). Does anybody know how much you need to get right on the verbal for a 8th grade boys 85+percentle?

I realized it was fab for vocab!
thats why I almost cried!!

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. Congratulations!

Crickett-not sure which SSAT scores you're referring to, because it seems that you've posted 3 different scores in the past few months. You first said you received a 94 on the SSAT. Later on, you said you got an 80 on the verbal, 94 on the Math, and 84 on the reading. Most recently, you've stated you have an 82 overall (86 Verbal, 72 Math, and 72 Reading.)

We don't really care what your scores are, just please be consistent if you're going to post them.

My 1st scores were from 8th grade. I'm a freshman now. The 2nd was from august and the most recent was from Novish. I dont recall the exact date.

Quite frankly, my dear, I don't care if you don't care. Others post their scores and no one complains. Follow their example and you'd be a nice addition to the CC community. Nobody likes a whiner.

Nice mocking of the word "fab" by the way. I can see what a nice girl you are.

How is that whining? You never said the 94 was the LOWER TEST. Why even report that score, because it doesn't count. And SSAT only has tests through June. They start back up again in October. So you couldn't have taken a test in August. And you posted the last two scores by November 7th, which is before the November 10th Test Date.

Like I said, we don't care about your scores. Just if you are going to post them, make sure you are consistent. Even if you're fabricating, be a consistent fabricator:)

Oh yes young grasshopper, I am nice, to nice people that is.

Do you take into consideration flex tests? Or is that beyond your knowledge?
And I could very well post a score that didn't count. Just to get an adequate idea.

Crickett, we only know what you tell us. So, if you don't tell us about "flex tests", why would we "take that into consideration"? Please, you're smarter than that....

Meeeeeooooowwwww.

purrrr purrrr

this is kind of funny

It's hilarious, actually! :)

Oh dear. Yes, yes, its hilarious. I'm apparently more intelligent then you. I don't jump to such drastic conclusions. I can guarantee you that I am not making up any of my scores.
That being said, you can drop the subject now. Your in 7th grade. Why don't you wait another year or two, then we can have a conversation once I can see you've grown up a tad.
Hiss

No, I am in 8th grade now. And unlike you, I don't say I "just turned 14" if I turned 14 in August, 4 months earlier.
