SSP Acceptance??

I believe it's rolling admissions. Don't despair, the March 24 deadline isn't even passed yet!

Nato, that's what i am trying to find out

I'm kinda anxious right now, though i am expecting a rejection (my essays (now that I've read them one more time) are really bad, plus the test score are even worse :) ) But anyway....

good luck to all once again :)

home is best

Huh? that post ^^^ makes no sense at all

if you dont get in, staying at home and doing some local research at a university with a prof is nice too

that depends on where home is. what if you lived out in the boonies in the middle of the redneck capital of the world?

hahah that'd suck

poignantpianoist: Are you a sophomore? it sounded like you were cuz you wanted to get past the junior/sophomore discrimination

i hope none of you live in the bible belt

yes, Nato. I'm a sophomore. Astrowanna tells me that since her year, sophomore acceptances severely declined.

does it bother any of you that you have to give them notification within a week? what if you get into a program you like more later on?

well other students need to know about their status on the alternate list, naansian.

i know i wont get into a program that i like more later on because RSI doesnt accept sophomores. RSI 2007, please.

Well, that is not bothersome for a couple of reasons:

There are not a lot of programs out there that surpass SSP, except maybe like RSI and TASP. And they let everyone know before that week is over.

Poignantpianoist: I was wondering if you could post a general summary of your stats, since being a fellow sophomore I can see how I compare and get an idea what kind of chance I have

see... I have applications into RSI and MITE2S right now. RSI's decision deadline is 3/31 and MITE2S is mid-April. My week is up on the 26th.

Nato, well i have no research experience. I have pretty low PSAT scores. I am first in my class. I am taking AP Chem, AP Physics C, and AP Calculus BC, (with high marks in all) for which I got recs from all three teachers and included them in my app. I also think I played my essays well even though they were not well written because I emphasized the idea that 3am excursions were better than being on the beach, something like that. our science olympiad team made it to states. our physics olympics team got last in our league but i didnt mention that. i started our schools math club and we won 1st in the lehigh math contest which was quite a fluke but this wasnt a competition for morons either!

i believe the acceptance notifications have now ended due to the formation of an alternate list already. im not the betting kind, but if i were, i would think that that list has a ton of sophomores who were ripped off by the sophomore laissez-faire policy.

poignantpianist, how do you know that alternate list is already made up?

Dang if thats true tis dissapointing. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for next year

but- how can the acceptence be done? they haven't looked at applications for the March 24th deadldine

I think the decisions for people who met the first application deadline are out. I am assuming that they will evaluate the second application pool after the accepted in the first round give them their decisions on whether they will go or not.

Can we tell them I are going and then not go? B/c I applied to RSI and MITES too, and I would def. pick RSI and MITES over SSP I think...

I am going to ask them for an extension. If they don't grant that, I think I will just tell them I will go and give them the nonrefundable deposit. I mean if I do get into either MITES or RSI, the worth of those free programs> nonrefundable deposit. That is just my thinking.

OMG I can totally understand the anxiety that the seniors emulate right now!!! I am going NUTS on whether I am in or not. And the fact that it looks like people are saying all acceptances are out, that just makes the situation worse. It is sooooo nerve racking

looks like I'll be going to that Cornell Summer program. It looks to be a fantastice program. Has anyone heard about it or have gone to it?

Hey guys, I'm applying for the March 24th deadline...for the short answers, did you go over the word limit? I'm about 100 over...

Also, it says choose one or more of the following topics? Should I choose more than one? Thanks!
