Summer Programs

Hey guys,

I was wondering, for those of you who have already been accepted into Harvard, did you attend any programs over the summer? If so, which ones? And do you think they played a large factor in your acceptance?

Thanks!

summer programs do help...especially more if its a competitive research program or something for sciency kids.

Thanks for the comment, vampiro! What summer programs did you go to?

A competitive summer program (RSI) will help you. A precollege program at Harvard or another Ivy won't really affect your chances too much. That being said, I am extremely glad I did SSP regardless of its effect or lack thereof on admissiosn.

i havent gone to any summer program yet but i have applied this year to SSP,RSI and SSTP (univ of flrida)

all these programs are great...i never was a fan of summer school since i can do most courses on my own so just applied to research programs.
My friend has been top SSP and he said that there was only one word for it...awesome

Any college students taken any government or history classes during the summer @ Harvard? Anyone know anything about any of the Harvard professors (who is good/who is not good, fair, etc)? Is it a pretty good idea to go ahead and take 2 classes since you're paying that much for room & board anyway?

Also for college students, no essay is required, no college transcript or anything, right? How do they determine who gets to attend?

Thanks!

do you guys think that going to a program like RSI would benefit someone who is not interested in majoring in science???

attending RSI might show that such a person is well-rounded, which is beneficial...

but that person will need good luck or divine intervention to beat other, more sciency kids for a spot at RSI, especially if the person has little interest in pursuing scientific research (or something directly related to it, like science journalism

thnx. any other opinions? i am not talking specifically about RSI, just science research in general. if my major/hook is not science related, would doing research look like an obvious attempt to better a resume?

bump.......

Dont worry about that... just get in first

TASP, TASP, AND MORE TASP!!!

JK, do something that demonstrates your passions over the summer if you can't attend a pre-college program. Community service is a good example.
