Has anyone been accepted in English yet?
Our stats:
33 ACT (35 English, 35 Reading)
710 SAT S- English and History
4,4,4 (English language, US History, Environmental Science)
4.33 W GPA
Lots of extracurricular activities, editor in chief, awards
Applied in mid November 2017 in English and haven’t heard yet… Anyone else is waiting?
Portal still says: “checking application”
How long did it take you guys before you were sent the info to the portal login?
@Baby2018 I would be absolutely shocked if you aren’t accepted. St. Andrews is kinda random with how long they take to make decisions, I wouldn’t read too much into it.
Our daughter accepted today in Honors English!!!
@whoharry thank you so much! We have just received great news that our daughter has been accepted Masters if Arts Honors English! Academic year 2018/9
Congratulations! @Baby2018
I’d appreciate any insight you can provide.
I applied to the Ancient History & Archaeology program back in December. I am the salutatorian of my class, 34 ACT, 1500 SAT, with a 770 US History SAT subject score and a 710 Math I score. I have taken 9 AP’s and so far have gotten a 5, 5, 5, and 4 on my exams. I am the Student Council Vice President and the Volleyball Captain (not sure if extracurriculars matter much). I haven’t heard back yet, and when my counselor called the admissions office, they only said that my application was complete and under review, and that they were “aware of the May 1st deadline”. Not sure if this long waiting period is bad news??? Anyone else in AH&A heard back yet?
^ Would you attend if offered a place?
Yes, I believe so. I am hoping to schedule a visit before the May 1 deadline, which is why I am anxious to get a decision soon, as flights aren’t cheap. My other options are UVA and William and Mary, but St Andrews is my top choice.
All decisions should have been made by Mar 31st, so if you don’t have a decision there seems to be an error, how did you apply, common app? May 1st is the deadline you let the university know if you are accepting their offer. Get your GC to give them a ring if possible again, if not do it yourself and tell them you would attend if given an offer. Not sure where you live try a couple of European carriers, Norwegian Air, WOW and Iceland Air. who connect through Reykjavik into Edinburgh.
@elguapo1 Yes, I applied through the Common App. I will try to give them a ring now.
@elguapo1 also, where did the Mar 31st information come from? My application page says it’s still in the “checking application stage”, and I have no new messages or notifications.
I believe common app might be treated as a rolling admission app and so might not have a 31st Mar cutoff. However, it will only help your case if you call quickly, you might want to give yourself the out of making a decision after you visit, that is totally reasonable. With your stats you are an excellent candidate they should have a very good idea if they are likely to be over subscribed because they will have received all the decisions from kids who applied by UCAS.
@spartalinn 31st Mar is the date all applicants should receive a decision if they applied by UCAS form (the British application form). If your GC is willing they should really be the one to call on your behalf (St A’s will likely be more candid with them), but if that not possible then try direct. It is passed 6 pm in Scotland so they likely not in the office.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your help! @elguapo1
I applied to Ancient History, Archaeology, and Anthropology back in December and I heard back two weeks-ish ago. Your test scores are better than mine so I would imagine you wouldn’t have much of a problem getting in.
@18YearsASlav thank you very much, I appreciate the help!
