I applied 10/25, but haven’t gotten any portal login… is that a problem??
My D received an offer this week from Glasgow for computer science. It is conditional only on providing proof of the ACT/SAT test scores she reported on UCAS. We sent them off right away. So nice to get an offer. We visited Glasgow on an open day in June and loved the Uni and Comp Sci dept. She also received an email from ST Andrews asking for high school transcripts and profile, which we have sent. Still waiting to hear from Edinburgh, Newcastle and Manchester.
@KaffeineKitty congrats on the offer!! We’ re also still waiting to hear from Edinburgh… The last one on our list except Oxford
That’s funny because Edinburgh is the only one we’ve heard from. Still waiting on St. A, Durham, York and Bath.
We are visiting Edinburgh on Sunday, St. A ,Monday and either spending the night in Durham or York on the way to London. I was really hoping for a yes/no from one of them so I can cancel one set of reservations.
@VickiSoCal - hope you have a wonderful time in Scotland & England. I thought the contrasts bt Edinburgh and St A were interesting - while the town of StA is small, it has a cosmopolitan vibe that makes it feel bigger. Restaurants are good there also (Forgan’s was a favorite). Edinburgh scenery is straight out of Hogwarts, but the tourists crowds could be overwhelming in the main part of town. Please give us an update on your impressions when u get back.
@VickiSoCal Fortunately, Durham and York are very close (1.5 hrs by car or 45 minutes by train) and both are really cool cities to visit anyway, so you can enjoy the visits even if your kid does not have the offers in hand by then! The York Minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre were two of our personal favorites.
We are going to skip York it just didn’t work out in the schedule. We’ve been there before as tourists and its her fifth choice. (The Jorvik center is closed due to flooding right now. )
Makes sense, better to spend more time at Durham given your travel schedule.
@montefiore, @KaffeineKitty and anybody else waiting on Oxford interview invites: fyi, Brasenose started sending out invites yesterday/today for Classics & History, and expects to send out PPE tomorrow, E&M and Physics Monday. They suggest checking at 3pm or 5pm (ie, 10am or noon on the east coast of the US), which is around the time they are most likely to release interview decisions. Dk if your kids are applying to Brasenose, but the useful pieces for all Ox applicants are 1) decisions are released by subject, and for most subjects will follow a similar pattern (b/c they are decided by subject); 2) the decisions are rolling out over the next week; and 3) for most subjects the release time is towards the end of their working day. Based on 2 other colleges whose systems I am aware of, this should be true for whatever college you are waiting to hear from.
Good luck!
@collegemom3717 Thank you! I’ve been checking the thread on TSR forum. It was very nice of Brasenose admissions to post some insights on the timing! We’re waiting to hear from Wadham.
I’m and American student. I applied in late November and received my unconditional offer for Art History in late December!
