st johns university pharmacy

hiii

i was recently accepted into the pharmacy program at st johns. ... and i want to know if anyone knows anything about it ... like how the coursework is ... how college life is at st johns .... and the benefits of being in this program .... salary ... job right after college...etc

thnx :-)

bbbbbbbbbbump

bump again.

it is a very good program and you should be proud. it is harder to get into st johns than LIU's pharmacy program. the pharmacy kids are kinda in their own pack in that they all take classes together and your schedule gets assigned to you based on what group you are in. it is also very difficult, i know several people there and they study A LOT. Several people drop out every year.

but if you can make it out of this program the benefits are great. starting salary in a retail pharmacy chain (i.e. CVS, walgreens, etc.) is around 115K, and in a hospital a little less. this is assuming you stay in new york. so its defintely not a bad career.

i was supposed to be in that program, but now im a pa major at st. john's. i dorm with 5 other pharmacy majors and im friends with a lot of pharmacy major. its true a lot of people drop out for several factors, 6 years, hard courses, etc. the kids in pharmacy say that the first couple of years are fairly easy just because its mostly core courses. i have friends that are in their fourth and fifth years and they say it gets very difficult. I dont want to scare i just wanna tell you the truth. most pharmacy kids here are either asian/indian.
i got out of the program becuase i dont want to be in school for six years. however if you complete it, you will be making 100 grand a year when youre 24 ish. you are basically gaurenteed a job. this program is harder to get into just because its a 6-0 which means your gaurenteed a spot for your last two years. at other pharmacy programs its 4-2or2-4 which means you basically have to battle for the spots for the last two years, because they are not gaurenteed. the courses get gradually difficult. pharm majors take special classes and their classes are already set, for the next six years.
this is a major where you cannot be in it just for the money, or else you will hate ie and it will just be a complete waste of time. It's really up to you, the program is outstanding and its probably st. John's best major.

ahhh ... thanks guys for the info!!! .... i think that i am going to go for the program then .... lots of studying .. but i guess its worth it at the end .....hopefully i don't get kicked out!!!!!

thnks for the info!!
