Stacking Merit scholarships?

I was reading about the scholarships at Ole Miss and they seem to be quite generous. It seems that there are both automatic scholarships based on stats and then competitive scholarships, as well. In regards to the automatic scholarships, are they all stackable? For example, could an OOS engineering student with a 32 ACT/3.5 GPA get: 1) $14984 academic excellence award, plus the 2) $1500 valedictorian scholarship, plus 3) $2000 non-res STEM Scholarship = $18484/year? In addition would they still be eligible for competitive scholarships on top of this, too?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer to your question. But, I have found the financial aid office at Ole Miss to be very accessible and informative when it comes to questions about both merit and need based aid. If you don’t get an answer here, you should give them a call.

Yes, you can stack merit awards up to the cost of attendance unless the award specifically says one replaces the other such as the National Merit scholarship replacing the Academic Excellence scholarship. If you win a major competitive scholarship, it replaces everything.

Yes, you can stack any Merit-based scholarships up to the printed cost of attendance for your entry year to the university. Should your total scholarship amount exceed the cost of attendance, the Office of Financial Aid will work with the institutional scholarships to make them fit the amount of attendance. Then, should costs increase, you could receive some of those funds back. Make sure to apply to special programs like the Honors College, notify the School of Engineering of your interest and visit campus if you haven’t already.
