Standard interview closing message or potential issue?

Hi,
I recently had an interview for my top choice school and a specialized dual-degree program within it.
I feel like it went well; we spoke for a little over 45 minutes, and it felt like a good back-and-forth conversation. That being said, he ended pretty much by saying while he’s rooting for me to get in, it’s a competitive application process and I, as well as everyone, shouldn’t be disappointed if they don’t get into the school they want to. “You could go to your 50th favorite school and still enjoy your time there.”

Is this just a standard interview closing, or is it an indication of the interview not going as well as I might have thought. The interview didn’t feel like anything extremely special, both good or bad, but it’d be interesting to know if others got the same advice from their interviewer. Any ideas?

Also, he did state that interviews can’t really hurt your application, which I expect is true to a degree. Am I just overthinking things?

Was the interviewer an alum or an admissions person? If it was an alum, read nothing into it.

You are over thinking it.

I pretty much tell all my interviewees that. We have no clue how the AO views your app.

Yes. Read absolutely nothing into the statement.

Great, thanks. That’s what I was hoping for.

FYI the interviewer was an alum
